Principal and Senior Financial Adviser

Jace Cordell is our Principal and Senior Financial Adviser.

Jace spent the early years of his career providing financial advice in an established national wholistic advice company where he gained invaluable experience in a wide range of financial services and advice strategies. His passion for building relationships with people and providing a quality advice enabled him to successfully grow into a senior registered financial adviser and open the financial planning business in Newcastle in 2015. Since then, the business has expanded the service to cover Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and The Central Coast, and now has clients Australia wide as well as internationally.

In 2017, Jace Cordell was recognised at a national level and was awarded The Mortgage Choice National Adviser of the Year. This prestigious award is designed to recognise financial advisors who deliver the highest standard of professionalism and champion excellence in financial advice. This accolade is a synonymous with Steel Lake Advisory Service’s ethos – we truly pride ourselves of providing high quality advice and are passionate about the relationships we form.

Jace was also named a finalist in the Young Leaders in Finance Awards 2018 within the ‘Regional Professional of the Year’ category. This accolade uncovers and recognises leaders in the financial space and celebrates emerging talent who are driving change.

Jace has a Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) from RMIT and is registered with the Tax Practitioners Board to give tax financial advice.

He has spent some time in the United Arab Emirates providing international advice to clients from all over the world. Now he is settled back home advising families in Australia with his wealth of knowledge and experience. 

Jace believes the most rewarding part of being a financial adviser is helping people realise and achieve their financial goals so they can spend more time focusing on the other things in their life.

He takes great pride in providing tailored advice for his clients on areas such as tax minimisation, wealth creation, risk protection, superannuation, and retirement planning.

In his spare time, Jace enjoys experiencing local bars and restaurants. He is an avid supporter of Chelsea Football Club in the English Premier league and the Formula One. He never misses a game or race, which explains some later starts in the office on a Monday morning. Jace enjoys travelling and is always planning the next trip. Whether that be to see family in Melbourne and Brisbane or taking off overseas to catch another Premier League game and see more of the world.

He has dedicated his career to offering personalised, comprehensive financial strategies for individuals, families and businesses.

Specialising in superannuation, personal insurance, retirement planning, investments, tax efficiency, and estate planning, Paul guides clients through complex financial decisions, ensuring each strategy aligns with their unique goals and values.

Outside the office, Paul coaches a local soccer team, is very involved in his children’s sporting activities, and spends endless hours driving to and from their soccer and dancing commitments. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching the Newcastle Jets and Manchester United games, playing golf and getting outdoors into nature as much as possible.

Shayna Mackay

Shayna is our administration and client services officer responsible for delivering the high level of service accuracy and efficiency. Shayna is the oil to the machine and is busy behind the scenes conducting product research, advice implementation, ongoing administration of client accounts, and ad hoc service requests.

Shayna is currently studying at Newcastle University on her education pathway to becoming an associate adviser and then senior adviser in future.

Outside of the office, Shayna enjoys surfing at her local beach in Norah Head and searching for good quality coffee or margaritas, depending on the time of day. Her ideal holiday includes sun, great drinks, delicious food, and a water slide. Most clients will hear from Shayna at some stage when working with us.  So, feel free to pass on any recommendations you have when you speak to her next.

With a strong background in administrative support, Marc helps streamline processes, assisting with client communications, and the preparation of financial documents, reports, and other critical documentation.

Marc is skilled in handling sensitive client information with discretion and confidentiality. Known for his organisational skills and attention to detail, Marc works diligently to support the team in providing a seamless client experience. Additionally, Marc assists with client onboarding, document management, and maintaining accurate records, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the financial planning team.

With a deep commitment to providing exceptional administrative support, Marc ensures that clients’ needs are met promptly and that advisors have the resources they need to deliver comprehensive financial strategies. His dedication to excellence, along with a strong understanding of financial services, makes him an invaluable part of the team.

Outside of the office Marc is a big UFC fan. He enjoys fantasy literature, graphic novels and video games like Pokemon and Monster Hunter. He also loves to get outdoors and visit tiny coastal resort towns on holidays.
